LOIS LAKE STEELHEAD: Oncorhynchus Mykiss

Oncorhynchus is Greek meaning "hooked snout". This feature is common to all five Pacific Salmon including Steelhead. Because these black-spotted fish are anadromous, meaning they migrate from salt water to spawn in fresh water, they can be cultured in either salt or fresh water.

Our product, Lois Lake Steelhead are farmed in the deep, cold, clean waters of Lois Lake, British Columbia, and raised on sustainable feed, without antibiotics. Our Steelhead are harvested and immediately chilled to the core to ensure maximum quality and freshness.

Eating our BC-farmed Steelhead salmon means that you will always be guaranteed a fresh, highly nutritional and flavourful fish that is sustainable, environmentally friendly and committed to working with the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise™ program.

Steelhead salmon are the same species as rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). They are native to the Pacific Northwest and common in our rivers and lakes. Farming native species eliminates the concerns of introducing non-native species into the environment.
